Absolutely. I find it pretty strange that Cyberpunk 2077 decided to opt for smartphones in the game. But the very definition of cyberpunk isn’t an unadulterated future. It’s a mix, one where you keep what you like from the past alongside the bizzare stuff that is commonplace in the future.

Take cars for instance. While you’d expect almost every car you encounter in the future to have an electric engine, Cyberpunk 2077’s vehicles have clearly drawn inspiration from the muscle cars of the 80s. If we’re talking futuristic communication, I think implants are where we’re heading. Sure they’re invasive and the privacy concerns are legit. But if they become a necessity, it’s only a matter of time before everyone gets them.

Truth be told, I prefer the watch plus AI vision that you have. It isn’t as scary as something watching and feeling every single thing that you experience.
